PF™-Anode

PF™-Anode

The PF™-Anode is a long-life, flexible impressed current anode engineered for cathodic protection in water tanks, wells, and aqueous environments. Featuring a mixed metal oxide (MMO) anode encased in chlorine-resistant Kynar® braiding, it delivers durable, shorts-guarded corrosion control—even in harsh icing conditions.

PF™-Anode Key Benefits

NSF/ANSI 61 certified
Fully pre-assembled
Guards against shorts
Chlorine resistant
Flexible and durable
Ice-damage resistant
Long operational life

PF™-Anode Components

  • Continuous MMO Anode: Provided in continuous lengths or sections for specific water tank setups.
  • Header Cable: Continuous HMWPE or HMWPE/Kynar insulated copper cable running the full length.
  • Outer Housing: Kynar braiding that prevents electrical contact with structures and permits DC current passage.
  • Waterproof Connection: MATCOR patented Kynex® waterproof connection joining the cable and MMO anode.
  • Reference Electrodes: Optional reference electrodes housed directly inside the braiding.
  • Bottom Weight: Optional PVC-housed bottom weight attached to the braided rope to help the assembly hang vertically.

  • Packaging: Shipped in coils or on reels for longer lengths.

PF™-Anode Design

Designed for water tanks, water wells, enclosed vessels, floating ring systems, external protection in wet environments, and propulsion tunnels and can be designed with cable exiting both ends, integrated reference electrodes, and additional braided Kynar rope on either end. The PF-Anode is also outfitted with Kynar braiding that stretches under icing conditions without damaging the internal anode, cable, or connections.

PF™-Anode Ordering

When ordering, specify the required current output per foot, overall length, design life, length of braided rope required on the ends, and lead cable length exiting the housing. Consultations and custom designs are available through MATCOR engineering.

PF™-Anode Installation

The PF-Anode is installed in vertical tanks by hanging the assembly from a ceiling clevis using the reinforced Kynar braided rope. It’s pre-built to length so no assembly is required onsite and can be mounted horizontally in vessels, containers, or propulsion tunnels.

MATCOR’s conceptual cathodic protection design services help you evaluate your options — our engineers gather application details, conduct on-site testing as needed, and present the impressed current or sacrificial CP systems that fit, along with benefits, approximate costs, and ongoing maintenance requirements. Backed by 45 years of experience, you get comprehensive options without the guesswork.
MATCOR technicians visit your site to collect the electrical transmission, pipeline, and soil resistivity data needed to evaluate fault current and induced AC corrosion risks and identify safety hazards per the latest NACE and industry standards. This field data feeds MATCOR’s AC modeling process, supporting effective AC mitigation system design.
Grounding systems are a critical component of many AC mitigation systems. MATCOR installs AC mitigation grounding systems designed to safely dissipate induced AC current and help protect both personnel and pipeline infrastructure.
AC interference modeling uses sophisticated software to analyze safety and corrosion risks — step-touch potential, induced AC, and shorted or fault conditions — for pipelines sharing right-of-way with overhead electrical transmission lines. MATCOR provides field data collection and complete AC modeling and analysis to determine interference risks and design the right AC mitigation system.
