Direct Drive Dual Reference Electrodes

Direct Drive Dual Reference Electrodes

The MATCOR PRC-AGCL-ZN-X is a direct drive dual reference electrode combining silver chloride and zinc sensors in compacted reference electrode backfill. A built-in driving cone enables installation in soft soil or sand to depths of 40 feet without drilling equipment.

Direct Drive Dual Reference Electrodes Key Benefits

Dual reference electrode in one unit (silver chloride + zinc)
Installs without drilling equipment
Reaches depths of 40+ feet
Compacted backfill retains moisture and electrode stability

Direct Drive Dual Reference Electrodes Design

  • Silver chloride and zinc reference electrodes prepackaged within tightly compacted MATCOR reference electrode backfill
  • Backfill retains moisture contact and electrode stability
  • Unique driving cone and driving assembly design enable the dual reference electrode to be directly driven into soft soil, mud or sand to depths of 40 feet or more without the need for drilling equipment.

This design is not suitable for all soil conditions – please contact MATCOR to discuss the feasibility of direct driving the anode.

Direct Drive Dual Reference Electrodes Installation

  • Directly driven into soft soil, mud, or sand to depths of 40 feet or more, no drilling equipment required
  • Not suitable for all soil conditions — contact MATCOR to discuss feasibility before direct driving

Why MATCOR Materials?

MATCOR engineers and manufactures proprietary cathodic protection products in the USA, combining proven field performance with the quality systems and supply chain control that critical infrastructure demands.

Made in the USA, Built for the Field

Proprietary products manufactured in-house with millions of documented operating hours and reliable domestic supply chain control.

Engineered To Perform, Not Just Comply

Products designed by our own corrosion engineers to solve real-world problems, not just meet spec.

Proven Quality Systems

ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing with structured quality control and built-in continuous improvement processes.

Backed by Global Resources

The specialized expertise of a corrosion engineering company combined with the systems and oversight of a $6B global industrial services organization.

From application review to delivery and field support, getting the right CP and AC mitigation materials is an engineering decision—not just a purchase. Here’s what working with MATCOR looks like.

An ACCA survey evaluates buried pipeline coating condition by measuring how an applied AC signal attenuates along the line. Sound coating holds the signal; damaged coating bleeds it into the soil. The rate of attenuation qualitatively ranks coating quality by segment and flags the areas with the most significant holidays.
Alternating Current Voltage Gradient (ACVG) surveys pinpoint buried pipeline coating defects and holidays, helping operator teams evaluate pipeline integrity and protect critical underground infrastructure.
Cathodic protection testing must be performed on a regular basis to maintain regulatory compliance and ensure continued corrosion protection of your assets. MATCOR conducts annual CP surveys that go beyond checking a box—our technicians collect the data, and our corrosion engineers interpret it and act on it.
An atmospheric corrosion survey evaluates whether airborne elements — such as sea salt, corrosive chemical plant discharge, or dust — are contributing to a structure’s corrosion. MATCOR technicians inspect the structure, test air and surface deposit samples, and deliver a full report with findings and recommendations.
