Probe Anode

Probe Anode

MATCOR probe anodes are impressed current MMO or platinum/titanium anodes for cathodic protection of water boxes, internal pipeline surfaces, and industrial vessels. Each features a machined stainless steel housing and is 100% factory-tested for water sealing and electrical isolation resistance.

Probe Anode Key Benefits

Manufactured in the USA at MATCOR’s ISO 9001:2015 facility
100% tested for sealing and electrical resistance integrity
Many standard sizes available
Available in MMO and platinum/titanium

Probe Anode Components

  • Probe anode segments are available in MMO and platinum/titanium. They are machined with sealing features.
  • Probe anode housing is 304/316 stainless steel, schedule 80. Other materials are available.
  • An optional conduit box is available
  • Internal features include O-rings, sealing compounds and water stops

Additional options:

  • Conduit box for anode connections: specify hub size for conduit connection
  • MATCOR probe type reference electrode in Ag/Ag/Cl, zinc or other material
  • Cathodic protection system design
  • Rectifiers and fittings

Probe Anode Specifications

The inactive area of the probe anode can be provided in varying lengths to accommodate the design and installation. If separation from the structure is not a concern, a minimum inactive length of 3-inches (76.2 mm) is acceptable.

MATCOR’s conceptual cathodic protection design services help you evaluate your options — our engineers gather application details, conduct on-site testing as needed, and present the impressed current or sacrificial CP systems that fit, along with benefits, approximate costs, and ongoing maintenance requirements. Backed by 45 years of experience, you get comprehensive options without the guesswork.
MATCOR technicians visit your site to collect the electrical transmission, pipeline, and soil resistivity data needed to evaluate fault current and induced AC corrosion risks and identify safety hazards per the latest NACE and industry standards. This field data feeds MATCOR’s AC modeling process, supporting effective AC mitigation system design.
AC interference modeling uses sophisticated software to analyze safety and corrosion risks — step-touch potential, induced AC, and shorted or fault conditions — for pipelines sharing right-of-way with overhead electrical transmission lines. MATCOR provides field data collection and complete AC modeling and analysis to determine interference risks and design the right AC mitigation system.
A cathodic protection anode bed is commonly used to protect pipelines, well casings, water systems, and other large infrastructure assets where current must be distributed over a broad area.
