Trenching

Conventional trenching is the standard installation method for linear anode systems, AC mitigation groundbeds, and buried cable runs across open right-of-ways. MATCOR's construction crews perform trenching as part of integrated CP and AC mitigation installation projects, selecting trench depth, width, and backfill approach based on system design requirements and site conditions.

Trenching services are available as part of full-scope construction projects or as a standalone installation capability.

Typical scope includes:

  • Shallow and deep trench excavation for anode bed installation
  • Linear anode system trenching (ribbon anode, MATCOR systems)

  • Cable and conduit burial along pipeline right-of-way

Elevator Cathodic Protection System

MATCOR’s elevator cathodic protection system protects the internal surfaces of hydraulic elevator piston casings using impressed current or sacrificial anode methods. Systems include reference electrodes and a rectifier and are available for new installations or as a retrofit.

Gradient Control Mat

The MATCOR MITIGATOR® Gradient Control Mat protects workers near cathodic-protection pipelines from lightning, AC fault current, and steady-state AC induction hazards. Supplied on a reel, it installs in concentric rings around appurtenances and connects to the pipe via a decoupler.

Graphite Anode

MATCOR graphite anodes are impressed current anodes available in 3″ and 4″ diameter sizes, supplied bare with lead wire or packaged in coke backfill. Cable options include HMWPE, Halar, and Kynar/HMWPE insulations in various lengths and gauges.
